Summer is here and we have been perfecting our alcoholic ice creams. Here is our blueberry and Armagnac ice cream – what more could you want on a hot day than this adult-only treat?

It’s creamy with a distinct taste of Armagnac. The alcohol hasn’t been heated at any point, so it still very much has a kick.

It’s just one of a range of adult ice creams we make in house.

Another popular one is Burgundy pinot noir and strawberry. We love a red wine from Burgundy during the summer – lightly chilled, its delicate flavours are perfect for the weather.

It makes a delicious ice cream too. As strawberry is one of the most typical flavours of a red Burgundy, we run a strawberry ripple through it to enhance its fruitiness.

Local Bergerac red wines are also good in ice cream – especially when paired with dark chocolate. Using cloves, star anise, black peppercorns and orange zest gives a hint of mulled wine, or vin chaud, to the result.

But it’s ideal for summer.

White chocolate and Monbazillac ice cream is another wine and chocolate ice cream on our dessert list.

Monbazillac is Bergerac’s answer to Sauternes – it’s made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes affected by noble rot. Teamed with white chocolate, it’s great for anyone with a bit of a sweet tooth.

For the more adventurous, we offer a honey and goat’s cheese ice cream. Upfront you get the taste of the honey, and the goat’s cheese comes through at the end. It’s surprisingly satisfying.

So, if you’re after a grown-up treat, come and try one of our adult-only ice creams.
