Our passion is artisan cheese and quality wine, predominantly from Périgord, but also from the rest of France and beyond. We set up Planches et Plonk to be able to share our enthusiasm with others.
Awards we’ve won
People seem to like what we’re doing. In 2025 we were named Best Wine Bar in South West France in the Food and Drink Awards.
The year before, we were named Best Wine Bar in South West France in the Restaurant and Bar Awards. We also won the title of Cheese Connoisseurs of the Year for South West France in the same 2024 awards.
The quality of our service is just as important to us as that of the wines, cheeses and meats we offer. That’s why we were particularly pleased to win the Customer Services Excellence Award in the 2024 European Enterprise Awards.
We have a Google rating of 4.9 out of 5.0, too, and Tripadvisor named us their Travellers’ Choice in 2024 and 2025.
With a 5-star rating, the Petit Futé guide is recommending us again for 2026.
Don’t forget, we’re more than a wine bar: we have two stylish, comfortable guest rooms upstairs. They mean you can relax and enjoy our selection of wines without having to worry about driving home.
Feedback for the rooms is excellent – we’re very proud to have a 9.6 rating with Booking.com for the quality of our accommodation. That said, you’ll always find it cheaper to book directly with us, and we can be more flexible with you if you need to change your dates or cancel altogether.
A new life in the sun
To have your hopes and fears – your laughter and tears – captured on camera for TV is both an honour and a risk.
Nevertheless, we were delighted to be invited to take part of Channel 4’s popular reality show A New Life in the Sun. We featured in series 6, which aired in 2021.
