Get away from it all with a weekend break in beautiful Dordogne. Plus, learn how to taste wine like a professional and pair wine with foods – and amaze your friends with a cheese you’ve made yourself.

Join us on a journey through Dordogne’s unique terroir, taking in crisp Bergerac whites, intense reds from Pécharmant and a host of unique artisanal cheeses.

Belvès is officially one of France’s most beautiful villages and is renowned for its seven bell towers and its troglodyte caves. It’s also a magnet for food lovers, with its weekly market throughout the year and its gastronomic night markets in summer.

We offer weekend break packages throughout the autumn, winter and spring. For just 395€ for two people, here’s what your weekend with us would look like.

You arrive. If you don’t fancy hiring a car for the weekend, let us know. We’ll have you collected from Bergerac airport or from Belvès or Le Buisson-de-Cadouin train station and then dropped back again when it’s time to leave us.

Over a lunch of cheeses and charcuterie, we’ll teach you what to look for in a wine, from its nose to its legs. You’ll discover how to judge its colour, intensity, aroma, sweetness, acidity, tannin, body and flavours, using the approach taken by wine professionals internationally.

We’ll start you off with a glass of wine, before we set you a wine challenge, where you get to test out your new knowledge on three white wines and three red, each served blind. It will be up to you to work out which is which.

Afterwards, we’ll take you to meet some goats and find out how goat’s cheese is made, courtesy of one of the most well-regarded cheesemakers in the area.

We’ll give you time together on Friday evening. We know plenty of places to eat that we can recommend for you – and we can book you a table, if you’d like us to.

After a peaceful night’s sleep, our breakfast will set you up for the day. Our passion for cheese makes our breakfasts a talking point – we recommend our house speciality, a twice-baked cheese soufflé.

We’ll let you explore Belvès’ popular weekly market on Saturday morning.

Once you’ve finished, take a coffee outside one of the cafés in the beautiful central square with its medieval market hall and just watch the world go by. Or visit the fascinating troglodyte caves that lie beneath the village.

Over lunch back at the property, we’ll teach you how to pair wine with food. You’ll learn skills you’ll value for life – and that will delight friends and family.

Afterwards, we’ll take you to one of our suppliers, one of the best winemakers in the Bergerac area, for a tasting. There, you’ll try a variety of both white and red wines.

On Saturday evening, we’ll give you more time together. Again, we have recommendations for places to eat, depending on what you’re looking for.

After breakfast, we’ll show you how to create a truly unique truffle Brie, which you’ll then get to take away with you. We guarantee you’ll have fun learning new skills.

Your time with us will come to an end after lunch at the property. Of course, if you need us to run you to a local train station or Bergerac airport, we’d be only to happy to do so.
